Candle Care
At Blue Cottage Candle Company, each candle is lovingly hand-poured with high-quality ingredients to give you a beautiful, clean burn. To help you get the most out of your candle and keep things safe, here are a few simple care tips:
First Burn Matters
-
Always allow your candle to burn long enough for the wax to melt all the way to the edges of the vessel on the first burn (usually 2–3 hours). This helps prevent tunneling and promotes an even burn for future use.
Trim the Wick
-
Trim the wick to about ¼ inch before each use. This helps your candle burn cleaner and longer while reducing soot and smoke.
Burn Time
-
Don’t burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time. Allow it to cool and reset between burns.
Candle Placement
-
Burn your candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from drafts, pets, children, and anything flammable.
Know When to Say Goodbye
-
Discontinue use when about ½ inch of wax remains at the bottom of the vessel. This prevents the container from overheating or cracking.
Reuse or Refill
-
Many of our vessels are vintage or heirloom pieces, and we encourage you to reuse them! Reach out to us if you’d like a custom refill.
